Brasileirinho
Edit ThisBrasileirinho in Ipanema is located at Rua Jangadeiros at the popular General Osorio square, this place has very authentic Brazilian food and is not expensive.
They serve the famous "feijoada" dish which is like a black bean soup with meat in it; it is very delicious. They also have other tasty options like ground beef with thin string pieces of potatoes and fried eggs with "farofa", which is made with manioc, a type of vegetable very common in Brazil. They also have some tasty drinks, like the "caipirinhas".

Zero Zero
Edit ThisOne word to describe best Zero Zero is fabulous! A friend of mine took me to this place and I loved it. Outside they have an open space for fresh air and to view the sky, but it was raining that day so we stayed inside. They serve beautiful meals of very good taste and they also have great music and a small place to dance. I like this restaurante very much and it gives me good memories of Rio.

Brasileirinho
Edit ThisThere are just so many options to eat in Rio that its hard to settle on where to go. During my stay I went to various places around the city, but I was very selective of my choices. I wanted Brazilian cuisine only. I found the Brasileirinho restaurant at Ipanema on a typical sunny afternoon and went inside to look further. The food is very authentic and so is the restaurant itself, which serves the main Brazilian dish, the "feijoada", with accompanying side dishes that go together very well. Fantastic place for lunch.

Guapo Loco
Edit ThisI really enjoyed this mexican joint over in Leblon. The food's great and cheap, especially on weekends where they have an all-you-can-eat buffet with a wide variety of goodies. I didn't run into any other mexican restaurants around Rio (and trust me, I looked), so I imagine this is the one to go to. You better skip breakfast if you plan on spending an afternoon here!

Azul Marinho
Edit ThisThis is a nice place over at Ipanema, with a great view of the Arpoador, where they serve some of the most delicious Brazilian food I have tried to date. One of my favorites is the "pargo" fish, served with rice and potatoes. Because its cooked in a thick layer of salt, the fish becomes soft and tender. They have their other secret cooking techniques that add up to the flavor, making this restaurant a great addition to the top dining spots in Rio. For more informations please call: 2523-9857

Benkei
Edit ThisThe eastern style of Benkei Sushi, in Ipanema mixed with the "carioca style" makes Benkei even better.
The decor is clean, predominantly white, with lamps of paper, separating veils environments, the wall of straw, bonsai on the shelves and wood everywhere.
Headed by chef Tasakhi Marina - which is already more than thirty years disseminating the Japanese cuisine in Rio - the kitchen of Benkei is open to the curious glances, in a total of 120 square meters of internal area.

CBF
Edit ThisFew people around the world had the privilege to get to know the Portuguese food. Put that small country full of seas has so many delicious dishes I couldnt believe. Now you must be thinking, "why is this guy talking about Portuguese food on the Rio de Janeiro's part of the website?" The thing is that Brazil used to be a Portugal colony and the influences of the European country in the South America paradise remain till nowadays. I found out all that during my unforgettable days in Rio, and the stage of such a great experience was CBF RESTAURANT. Placed more..

Zazá Bistrô Tropical
Edit ThisIn Rio, there is plenty of diversity when it comes to eating out. The Ipanema neighbourhood (which is between Leblon and Copacabana) is no exception to this rule. One of the better places I found was the Zaza Bistro, at Joana Angelica street, which was near my hotel. Since I was eating at the hotel almost every day of my stay, I wanted a change of menu. I asked the concierge if he knew where I could get a good meal around that area, so he handed me this guide called Rio For Partiers which has a lot of useful information if you´re new to the city. I decided to go more..

Barril 1800
Edit ThisBarril 1800 is one of those great places you find out when you most need it and couldn't become more satisfied. The huge house, just across the street of Ipanema Beach, is used to become frequenters that leave the sand and go there for a nice meal. The place is also a temple of carioca Bohemia, and is always full every night of the week, probably because the great draft beer they offer. The local cuisine restaurant is tasty and in large amounts, enough to share among 2 or even 3 people. The prices are very nice and the service too. I enjoyed it very more..

CASA DA FEIJOADA
Edit ThisAfter a breakfast composed of açai and a grilled cheese sandwich, my friend and I weren't hungry until late afternoon, when we made the wise decision to try the main local dish (drumroll)... the Feijoada Brasileira! We went to this restaurant in the Ipanema neighborhood aptly called Casa da Feijoada and by now, hungry as we were, went straight for the main dish. These guys make a mean feijoada, tell you what! We also sipped some caipirinhas, which we were told, go together like peas and carrots when it comes to feijoada. A superb experience indeed!

Palaphita Kitch
Edit ThisPALAPHITA KITCH
Imagine a place that although beeing in the middle of a big city seems like you are in a small town, very calm, without any stress, enjoying the nature, the birds and a beautiful and huge lagoon. Now imagine one of the best places to watch sunset. THAT'S WHAT BETTER DESCRIBES PALAPHITA'S KITCH!
Besides all of that nature thing, this restaurant still has a great food made with some locals ingredients. It's a very sophisticated place to take someone you like, or to comemorate especials more..

Miam Miam
Edit ThisMiam Miam is a very cozy place, that makes you feel as you are at yours grandma's house. That's why there they call it comfort food, made with tradicionals and simples recipes.
My tip is to order these two plates: filet mignon's bombons with gnocchi and Risotto made with fresh mushroom, marjoram and parmesan. Those are really good!
To drink ask for the pineapple with pepper drink, mad with absolut pepper, lemon, pineapple and mint.
If you want to revives more..

Via Sete
Edit ThisVia Sete has a great atmosphere! I was on a diet, while in Brazil, and there I could choose lots of light foods to eat. There they offer great plates made with salads and grilled meat. To drink, I ordered strawberry frozen, that was made with 100% of fruit.

The restaurant is famous mainly because there the client always find a tasty food, with a good price and a place where they will be well treated.

ZazáBistrô
Edit ThisThe Zazá Bistrô kitsch decoration. Walls in colors and famous phrases in everywhere, red roses in velvet.
A wonderful work of trendy Isabela Piereck.

Sobrenatural
Edit ThisSobrenatural is one of the more popular restaurants in Santa Teresa. Though open and spacious, the restaurant is often packed for lunch and dinner. The menu consists of seafood in a variety of shapes and sizes. Order a caipirinha and some shrimp dumplings (pasteis de camarão) to start with -- each portion comes with ten dumplings so it's great for sharing. The menu offers several grilled fish options, but the house specialty is really the moqueca. Just pick what kind of fish you want and it will come served in a piping hot stew with coconut milk, palm oil, shrimp sauce more..

Zuka
Edit ThisBrazil is famous for its original and unique food, there is no doubt about it. The thing is that after spending a whole week staying a lot of heavy dishes, All I and my Boyfriend wanted was a taste of international, contemporary food in a nice, cool and hype place. The talented chef of ZUKA, was very smart by mixing Brazilian classics to Thai satays and French nouveau ,with harmony and good taste. Not only the food was delicious but also exquisite and beautifully put together. The prices are sure not the cheapest in Rio , but I'm sure it worthed every dime. more..

Edit ThisCan you image that in Rio de Janeiro there's a place so unique that can be called an Italian Bistro? Italian because the menu is all based on the Pizza land gastronomy, but you will find only the modern and sophisticated tendencies of this traditional cuisine. Bistro because the flair and coziness of those places are preset everywhere. With 3 floors, the third a terrace right under Cristo's Statue, the ambiance could not be nicer. For passioned lovers, Lulu is a great choice. You can have a quiet place full of candle light to inpire your romance. For group more..

Porcao
Edit ThisThe food here was so good I nearly had to be carried on a stretcher out the restaurant. So many tasty cuts of every which meat you've ever dreamt of is here! Apparently, Porcao also has some sort of notoriety down here when it comes to steakhouses, meaning, everyone's heard of this place, be it a local or foreigner. Enough said. Head out there and you'll see what I'm talking about.
