Cerro Campano
Edit ThisOverlooking San Ignacio is the Cerro or Mirador Turistico Campano. At an altitude of about 1800 meters you can basicly see the whole province.
Armin Garcia is making a living on this peak. He's got a small place to eat, a store, a playground and some tropical shelters from the sun and the rain. He makes a living with his store, his pinetrees and his little pineapple plantation. Recently, a few very basic but pretty cabañas were installed on the mountain top (20 soles per cabin).
You can take any old mototaxi to bring you to the Cerro for 10 soles. To get back down you'll have to arrange something with the taxi driver, as there is no telephone. On a sunday there shouldn't be a problem, as a lot of locals spend a romantic day on the peak then.
If you've got a tent or little fear for cold nights, you can camp here for free. The sky is supposed to be wonderfull at night, as there is hardly any light polution. On top of that you can see the little lights of all the villages in the area.
