Jaén - San Ignacio - Jaén
Edit ThisFor those passing by Jaén on route to or from Chachapoyas, it's feasible to visit San ignacio in one day, than come back. If you’re on route to or from Vilcabamba, Ecuador, you’ll have to run less.
In the early morning, say 8 o’clock, take a mototaxi to the “Paradero por San Ignacio”. Minibuses leave here all day long. The ride costs 12 soles takes about two hours, following the Chinchipe valley, then more..| World66 rating: |

More an afternoon trip than a day trip, you can go to a riverside beach pretty easily. Buena Esperanza at the Rio Huancabamba is a good example of that.
At the bus terminal on the main boulevard out of town (direction Chiclayo – Chachapoyas), you can either take a colectivo car (2,5 soles) or a combi minibus (2 soles) to Buena Esperanza.
Walk down to the river through the palm trees and rice fields, and try to find a spot with some shadow. You’ll have to look around a bit to more..

Jaén - Bagua Chica - Santa Rosa - Puentosillos - Jaén

From Jaén you can visit these places in a day, if you rush it a bit.
In Jaén, take a minibus to Bagua Chica. Watch out, as Bagua Grande also exists. Price: 5 to 10 soles. The road is nice and in good condition, with a river crossing on a pretty little bridge.
Bagua Chica isn't exactly attractive. You might arrive in the Terminal Terrestre or busterminal. From there walk or take a mototaxi to the market area (0,5 to 1 soles), near the Plaza de Armas. You'll be happy to leave within half an hour. At the market area you can take more..
