Accommodation in Trujillo
Edit ThisWhile Trujillo itself may not offer many obvious tourist attractions, the city’s proximity to important archeological ruins and attractive beaches has put it firmly on the tourist trail.
Accommodation For All Budgets
There are several good backpacker options here, and lots of low-priced hotel rooms to be found in and around the city center.
Those with flexible budgets will find plenty of good mid-range options, with many hotels offering rooms with cable TV and other luxuries for just a few dollars more than the cheapest options.
There are a couple of hotels catering to the well-off tourist or business traveler at competitive prices. One word of advice – some taxi drivers work on commission to take passengers to specific hotels. Be firm and insist on being taken to your chosen accommodation.
Budget Travelers
One good option for budget travelers is Casa de Clara, at Cahuide 495. This friendly spot is popular with backpackers, and offers trips and tours as well as internet access. Rooms vary in price and are charged per person – a small room without private bathroom will cost around US$5 per head, while a room with television and private bath costs upwards of US$10. Beds in a shared dorm typically cost less than US$5.
Another good backpacker option is Mochica’s B&B, at La Arboleda E-19. A five-minute taxi ride from the bus station, this spot offers rooms for one to four people. TV, DVD library, hot water and a good breakfast ensure this hostel’s popularity with international travelers.
Mid-range Options
There are abundant mid-range hotels to be found in the town center, and generally no need to book in advance. For those arriving by air, Hotel Gran Bolivar, at Bolivar 957, provides free transfer from the airport. This attractive hotel is housed in a converted colonial mansion and features internet access as well as a café and bar. Rooms cost from US$60 for a single room, to US$120 for a suite.
Upscale Accommodation
Trujillo’s appeal to luxury travelers is limited, and there are just a handful of options for those who like the finer things in life. Try Libertador, at Indepenencia 485, Plaza de Armas. This upscale option has an attractive pool and bar, good service and the central location is handy.

Posada Dos Orillas
Edit ThisThe house is located inside the walled city, after the Arc of Santiago in the Calle Cambrones, right next to Santa MarÃa la Mayor. The name of the street dated back from the 14th century when Doña Evangélica, an impoverished woman of noble birth, started here the first linen and silk weaving workshop in the village. In one of the windows, one can still see a humble coat with the arms of the daughters, who married noblemen and left for the Indies.
