Chivay Travel Guide

Chivay is the first city in the region when coming from Arequipa at about 3700m. There are lots of hotels and prices are generally low, no need to book ahead.

The nearby hot springs have seperate baths and prices (3 $) for locals and tourists, a good place to lay down in the hot water with a magnificent view over the landscape. Between 5 and 6pm arrive most of the tourist groups, so it tends to fill up. You can either walk there or take a colectivo from the plaza.

To get to the Cruz del Condor catch any bus going to Cabanaconde from the bus terminal, which will take about 2 hrs to the condor viewpoint and 3 hrs to Cabanaconde.
