Kuelap Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeKuelap is a mountaintop fortress and city constructed by the ancient Chachapoyas culture. On an impressive location and with a mysterious atmosphere, it is often called the Machu Pichu of the North. As no one ever calls Machu Pichu the Kuelap of the South, you can imagine that this comparison is somewhat exaggerated. However, having been a living city with approximately 3500 inhabitants for what might have been 1000 years it really is an impressive site. Over a 1000 meters higher than the Utcubamba Valley and Tingo, it implies a 3 to 6 hour walk or a neck breaking and spectacular two hour bus ride.
