Several important ruins can be visited on a one day trip, of which the most spectacular is Kuelap. Nature can be impressive too, with the third highest waterfall in the world at only a one hour drive and two hours walk away.

Gocta Falls

The 770 meters high Gocta Falls in the world will not fail to impress you. The easiest way to get there is with an organized tour: they put you in a minibus or a taxi to the village where the walk starts. In the village a local guide will be arranged for you (obligatory), to take you along the jungle trail to the waterfall. They provide rubber boots when there is a lot of mud. The standard trip is first to a viewpoint (2 hours), then about an hour more to the base of the upper fall. The walk back takes less time as it's slightly downhill.
