There are differnet Ciudad del Este day trips that tourists will enjoy. Tourists can enjoy a visit to Itaupu Dam, or watch the animals at Itaupu Zoo. There are many things to do that are near this wonderful city.
Itaipu Dam is the world’s second largest hydroelectric dam, so tourists love to visit it for its wonder. Itaipu Dam’s turbines produce more electricity than any other dam in the world, It supplies 90 percent of Paraguay’s electricity and 19 percent of Brazil’s electricity. Because of the large amount of energy it produces, the Itaipu Dam was named one of the seven wonders of the modern world. There are free tours available.
Located about 2 km up the road from the Itaipu Dam, The Itaipu Zoo contains thousands of animals that were saved when the forests near the dam flooded during Itaipu Dam’s construction. Itaipu is only 20 km outside of Ciudad Del Este, located at Itaipu Dam Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. Considering the zoo contains thousands of saved animals, it is a must-see tourist attraction and admission is free.
Another great place to visit is Iguazu Falls. This beautiful waterfalls are located on the Brazilian state boarder near Misiones Argentina and Parana. The park to the falls admits people at 9 AM and closes at 5:30 PM. There are buses at different locations in the park that are provided for visitors, and they only cost $1.00 USD each way. However, there is an entrance fee to the park costing $10.00 USD. This park fee includes a train and boat ride across the San Martin Island that takes you to the front gate.
