Traveling around the Falklands
Edit ThisThe Falkland Islands are two major Islands East Falkland, home to Stanley, Goose Green and Darwen, and West Falkland, home to Port Howard, Fox Bay West and East and Chatres.
Both of which can be easily traveled round using the road service, it is not to west european standards but will be recogniseable to those from the parries of North America.
Between the two Islands there is a ferry taking 1.5 hours (apx) tickets for this must be booked in advance from Workboat Services in Stanley. Please note the Ferry does not leave from Stanley and goes from New Haven, E. Falkland, to Port Howard, W. Falkland. New Haven is at least 2 hours drive from Stanley.
The Falkland Islands is also made up of many other islands which can also be visited. This can not be visited and instead can be visited using Falkland Islands Government Air Service (FIGAS).
For those without cars FIGAS can also be used to travel to settlements around West and East Falkland.
FIGAS flights must be booked in advance from Stanley Airport and as of December 2008 all flights cost 50 GBP per person per flight. FIGAS is the only way to travel to islands other than E. and W. Falkland.
