Galapagos Islands was by far one of the most amazing places I've been. Many unique animals not seen anywhere else in the world. The difference of this place versus many others is that you get within several feet of these creatures which allows for awesome photographs. The wildlife is so protected it does not have the fear many travellers have experienced (like hiking in a Costa Rican rainforest for three hours to see one sloth 200 yards away as a spot in a tree).

Avoid the travel agent and save yourself thousands of dollars by flying to quito, Equador and booking a flight over for less than $400. Once in Santa Cruise, one of three inhabited islands, Jenny at Moonrise travel can book you on a cruise to several islands or individual day trips. This is still Equador and you can get $15 per night accomidations.

This paradise is is not as untouchable as we are led to believe!

If you are wanting to get a good taste of the country I highly recomend traveling via bus througout the country.  There is much to see and you can easily choose the bus routes out of Guayaquil that go through the national parks.
