Bread Dough Figurines

The little bread dough figures represent traditional costumes, Ecuadorian animals, Christmas decorations and any number of other things depending on the time of year.  The dough is painted and varnished so the figures are inedible but don't go off.

Tours can be arranged from Quito to come souvenir shopping in Calderon, but it is easy to travel on the public buses and just wander around the town.
