Getting Around in Villa de LeyvaEdit This
One of your smallest concerns during your Colombia trip will be Villa de Levya transportation. Located 150 kilometers (94 miles) north from Bogota, this small town can be easily covered by foot. Given the colonial architecture of the city, driving around the city is impractical, and you will notice that most people prefer to cover it by foot or bicycle.
Located on the Carrera 9, Villa de Levya's main plaza is the single most important landmark of the town. It is a frequent meeting point for tourist groups and first time visitors. There are a lot of locals that hang around the plaza, looking to offer their services as guides. It is a good idea to hire the services of one, because they are pretty knowledgeable about the town's history, which is quite rich and will make your tour much more enjoyable. Most locals offering walking tours will cover only the city, and if you would like to use their services to include tourist points outside the town, they will need to negotiate a rate with a taxi driver.
Taxis vs Tourism Agencies
Depending on your budget, you will have to make the decision whether to hire a tourist agency or to just hire a taxi to take you around to key tourist points within or nearby Villa de Levya. Taxis are a much cheaper option than tourist agencies, but you will need to work out a rate for their services. On the other hand, tourist agencies often do not give you the option to just wander around and take as much time as you would like.
