Construction of the bridge was completed in 1998 and is named after Cesar Gaviri, Colombia’s 40th president, born in Pereira. The bridge connects Pereira with Dosquebradas, its neighboring city.

Matecana City Zoo

Located near the Matecana Airport, visiting this zoo is another wonderful thing to do, especially if you are holidaying with your family in Pereira. The zoo includes about 800 animals, including mammals, birds and snakes. There are about 150 different species from Africa, Asia and America, and even some endemic animals. There is also a garden that boasts of various kinds of flora that are native and endemic to the area.
