Leticia, Amazonas, is situated at the border of Colombia, Peru and Brazil, 'Las Tres Fronteras', but the interesting thing is that you can walk a few blocks from Colombia into Brazil, where the name of town changes to Tabatinga and the shop signs and language change progressively to Portuguese. Leticia is the entry point to the region of Amazonas and a base for some day trips into the Amazon. An interesting and different part of Colombia, highly recommended.

Year round, there's lots of wildlife to be seen in the Amazon region, including monkeys, ocelots and dolphins, and array of birdlife and there are also indigenous villages that can be visited. You might also go fishing or Caiman spotting. The School arranges day tours and rainforests excursions in and around Leticia, as well as lodgment in natural reserves by the Amazon River. 
  
Popular are jungle trips to the nearby Amazon jungle, the natural reserve Marasha in Peru, the national park Amacayacu, the Ticuna settlement Puerto Nariño, Isla de los Micos (Monkey Island) and the visit of communities of the Ticuna, Yagua, Huitoto and Bora tribes. It is also nice to hire a  Bicycle or go on a night time safari.
