Cartagena Hotel Deals
Accommodation in Cartagena
Edit ThisCheaper than your average Caribbean destination, Cartagena attracts a broad range of travelers, from backpackers on shoestring budgets to families and couples on luxury beach breaks. Therefore, the city offers a range of Cartagena hotels. Accordingly, the hot, steamy Colombian city boasts a range of accommodation options, taking in everything from basic hostels to super-sleek beachfront hotels. There are some good deals to be had on all-inclusive breaks at the pricier hotels, but it's worth checking in advance to find out exactly what is included in the price.
Upscale Cartagena Hotels
Travelers looking for a luxury break in Cartagena will have little difficulty finding accommodations to suit them. From flashy high rises on the shores of the Caribbean to characterful boutique hotels in the walled historic center of Cartagena, there are plenty of options in the city for visitors with a healthy travel budget. Those looking for a reliable option might want to try the plush, five-star Hilton Cartagena, while Hotel Caribe, in the Bocagrande neighborhood, is an excellent family friendly hotel. Set in vast grounds filled with tropical vegetation and even its own mini-zoo, Hotel Caribe boasts two enormous outdoor pools. Guests on all-inclusive breaks can help themselves to an enormous buffet served at the poolside restaurant each night, and live music performances by the pool will make the moment feel even more special.
Boutique Hotels and Guesthouses
Visitors to Cartagena can expect to pay a little more to stay within the walls of the historic center, but it's well worth it for the scenery, ambience and proximity to restaurants, bars and sights of historic interest. Here you will find plenty of characterful boutique hotels, including the excellent Hotel Alfiz. Restored in 2005, Alfiz is set in a 17th Century Colonial building and comprises just eight suites. Service is friendly and attentive, and the vast breakfasts featuring abundant tropical fruits, local cheeses, meats and breads are a real treat. Visitors to Cartagena looking for a warm welcome, friendly service and a good breakfast without the high price tag will find plenty of good Bed and Breakfast options, such as the Casa Santa Ana in Getsemani, which boasts a roof terrace and pool.
Budget Hotels in Cartagena
Cartagena is well established on the South American backpacker trail, and as such there are plenty of budget-friendly hostels and hotels to choose from, such as Casa Viena, in Getsemani. This family-run hostel features a good kitchen and friendly staff, and is a good spot for backpackers looking to meet fellow travelers. The neighborhood is relatively safe, but be careful after dark.
