When to Go in Cali
Edit ThisIdeal Weather Conditions Year Round
The Rainy Seasons
The 2 rainy seasons of Cali are between April and May, and October to November. Try to avoid your visit during those months, especially if you're planning to walk around the historic downtown area or the zona rosa (the pink area, where most modern restaurants, malls and bars are located). Rain is quite unpredictable but you can be sure that if it starts to rain, it will do so for a long time.
La Feria de Cali
Since 1957, every December 25th to 30th, the Cali Fair has taken place in Cali. This fair is also known as the Sugar Cane Fair or the Salsa Fair because you will see plenty of both. Also available during the Cali Fair are bullfights, parades, rodeo events, horseback riding events and live music concerts. If you're planning to visit Cali during the December holidays, book your trip at least 2 months in advance because hotel rooms go fast. Another important event in Cali during December is the 10 kilometer race known as the Carrera del Rio Cali.
Important Colombian Holidays
If you had to choose only 1 month to visit Cali, then you should select June. June houses 3 long-weekends. The three holidays are Corpus Christi Day, Sacred Heart Day, and Saints Paul and Peter's Day. There will be a lot of religious themed parades around the city so expect traffic too be hectic. The parades are colorful and are a great opportunity to take some postcard quality photographs.
