Campina Grande Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeCampina Grande is approximately 3 hours car or (frequent) bus journey from the city of Recife on the North-East coast of Brazil. If you are looking for excitement, the "Best Sao-Joao in the World" can be found here, during the month of June. This is a month long Forro festival, with local traditional music and dancing which is open for anyone to join in.
The Micarande carnival, lasting a few days in March, is perfect for anyone who is willing to participate, as you really will be swept away with the thousand of others enjoying the music and lively dancing.
The weather is either hot or raining (an all time low of around 15 degrees), and as it is inland from the coast, during the summer months (november till march) many locals who can travel will go to the nearest beach - probably Joao Pessoa or Salvador.
Natal is around 3 hours drive from Campina Grande, and is a well known tourist point for backpackers. It is a small but beautiful town with a lovely beach.
