Mercado Florida

Edit This

This meat, fish and fruit market is worth a visit because of the excellent breakfast they offer. Various little bars offer empanadas, salteñas, fruit salad and the like. Fruit salads normally come as a big pile of fruit, some gelatina (you can ask not to have it) topped with a milk-and-fruit jugo or yogurt (3,5 bol or $ 0,5). Salteñas are pastries with a somewhat sweet filling of potatoes, vegetables, an olive, a miniature egg and a bit of chicken meat. The best are those of 2 bolivianos ($ 0,25). Contrary to the heavier empanadas, salteñas are not fried but baked in an oven.

Right next to the market are a few popular restaurants that sell barbecued fish.
