As La Paz can get rather cold, getting a nice hotel might be worth it. Pay attention to the amount of blankets you get and check the hot water. Most hotels do have hot water, but mostly not 24 hours, or through a shaky electric aparatus which gave me a shock once.

A charming hotel located in main tourist district of La Paz Bolivia. One block from Witches Market, three blocks from San Francisco Church.
Has an unique colonial architecture with sunny yards.
Inside is located the Restaurant " Tambo Colonial", serving trout from Lake Titicaca, Llama, pastries, accompanied with a salad buffet.

Arthy's Guesthouse

Great hostal with plenty of services: large communal spaces. Free use television room with great collection of DVDs, kitchen and dining room. Pay for internet acces and a pool room. Indoor shop. Good information. English spoken. Central location: 5 minutes walk from the bus terminal and from San Fransisco (old town).

You can hardly see the place from the road, you could walk right passed the door. On the inside it's very nice and spacey though.
