Cruise Ships big and small in Ushuaia Harbor enroute to Antarctica

Joseph Hollick

Ushuaia is a city of about 60,000 people.

It is located on the Beagle Channel about 10 miles from Tierra del Fuego National Park.

Argentina used Ushuaia as a penal colony due to its isolation but it now is closed. Ushuaia's main claim to fame is that it is the most southern city in the world and is the gateway to Antarctica. Tourist and cruise ships abound in its harbor to pick up supplies before leaving for Antarctica.
