Hotels and Accommodations in Richwood
Edit ThisThere is one hotel in the city of Richwood. It is located on Rte 55
outside of town as you travel to Pocahontas County. The Four Seasons
Lodge is a nice accomidation out in the quietness of the woods. Most
hotels have a pool for kids to play in while the Four Seasons boasts a
swimming hole and falls thanks to Cherry River running right beside the
hotel and the city for making a small dam like structure.
The area also is home to many numerous campgrounds in the National Forest that surrounds the city.
Big Rock campground is the first campground along the National
Forest road. It has limited spots but is very close to Spruce Knob
ponds, the river, and popular hang out and cookout area Woodbine. Spots
are limited and fill very quickly when warmer weather arrives. Down
further from Big Rock is the larger camp area of Cranberry. It sits
right along the river and has many access to the river for fishing and
swimming. The camp also hosts a number of old trails that familes can
walk to different parts of the camp or to small historical like sites
from when the camp was first built. The camps is also at the begining
of the Backcountry Wilderness Road which goes from the camp all the way
to America's beautiful Cranberry Glades in Pocahontas County. The
Backcountry is open to horse back riders, bikers, and walkers alike.
During the fall season the road is opened to tourists to drive in their
cars to take numerous pictures of the glorious colors of fall West
Virginia has to offer. Overlooking both camps sites is Spruce Knob
which is in very close accomidation to Cowen and Richwood. The site
hosts a few fishing ponds as well as close proximity to Williams River
which is a nice dipping river for the summer. The camp is quiet large
and is sparse during the summer months as many take refuge further away
and closer to the river you can swim and fish in. The camp is
accessable from either town by taking a left after Big Rock or before
getting to Cranberry there is another road to get to Spruce Knob or you
can come through Cowen down Williams River Road and get to it from
there.
Summersville is also within close driving distance and hosts numerous large chain hotels all with high speed internet, cable, and a pool. A list of the hotels include:
