Vashon Island Travel Guide

Vashon Island is a small island smack in the middle of Puget Sound. It is reachable only by ferry from West Seattle or Tacoma. Vashon is actually two islands, Vashon and Maury, that are connected by a small spit of landfill that was put in place over 100 years ago. The people of Vashon are an ecclectic mix of artists, hippies and the occasional right winger thrown in for balance. It is a wonderful community and a short 15 minute ferry ride from Seattle. Athough close to the urban sprawl of the Northwest's largest city, Vashon feels hundreds of miles away. There are wonderful hiking trails, great SCUBA diving and fishing and amazing views from all over the island(s).
