22nd Annual Joyce Daze Blackberry Festival

   JOYCE — Visitors can enjoy a slice of blackberry pie with their good time at the Joyce Daze celebration on Saturday, Aug. 7.

   The 22nd annual event kicks off at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and lasts until 3:30 p.m., when raffle winners take home prizes.

   Highlights of the festival include homemade pies with the much-heralded local blackberries, a parade, children’s activities, a juried arts and crafts show, salmon bake, vendor’s booths, demonstrations and live entertainment.

     The festival’s main attraction is homemade blackberry pie topped with ice cream which is on sale all day. This year more than 150 pies will be baked. 

     To submit entries for the Blackberry Pie Contest, drop off pies at the Joyce Museum between 9 and 10:45 a.m.

 

    Music by Luck of the Draw will be featured throughout the day at the Joyce Center and the grange.

   The schedule of events is as follows:

Joyce Daze schedule on Saturday:

7 a.m.-11 a.m.: Pancake breakfast, Crescent Grange. Cost is $3 for adults, $1.50 for children.

8 a.m.-4 p.m.: Juried art show, Crescent Grange.

9 a.m.-4 p.m.: Arts, crafts and plants sale, Joyce Center.

All day: Fish pond, Joyce Center.

10:30 a.m.: Parade judging, Crescent School District campus.

11 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Wild blackberry pie contest, Joyce Depot Museum.

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Children's activities, Family Kitchen restaurant.

11:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.: Salmon bake, sponsored by the Crescent Bay Lions

Club, mini mall.

Noon-4 p.m.: Sawing demonstration and antique chain saw display.

1-2 p.m.: Grand parade, State Route 112.

1-4 p.m.: Equipment demonstrations, free blood pressure checks and

refreshments, sponsored by Clallam County Fire District 4, fire hall.

1-4 p.m.: Antique truck and car displays, Crescent Grange.

2-3 p.m.: Children's activities, Family Kitchen restaurant.

3:30 p.m.: Button drawing and raffles, museum.

Music will be provided by Dave Secord’s Luck of the Draw with special guests all day.

    This year’s royalty features Queen Cindy Baker and princesses Laura Walters and Kendra Francis.  

    Joyce Daze buttons will be on sale for $1 until 3:30 p.m. Lucky participants have a chance to win cash prizes of $50, $100, $175.
