Bellingham Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeBellingham is a small city(around 71,000), about 80 miles North of Seattle on I-5 and 20 miles south of the Canadian border. One of the oldest cities in Washington has the oldest brick building and is replete with history, home of George Pickett, (Pickett's Charge), Fairhaven district, Whatcom Museum of History and Art located in the 1892 Court House, et al.
The downtown is known for it's art galleries, eateries, and history. Bellingham is also known for it's parks, every neighborhood having a fine example, plus some that people won't believe exist inside of a city with Whatcom Falls Park being the crown jewel, but bring your walking shoes. At the Sehome Arboritum there is a tower from which you can see almost the whole city.
Located here are some very fine hotels, The Bellweather and The Chrysalis being two examples.
Near by is Mount Baker with great skiing, boating and swimming at numerous lakes, and the Pacific Ocean. Also three very nice casinos are near by. Larrabee State park is the best campground but there are a hundred more.
The San Juan Islands are accessable by ferry, boat and planes, and there is a wonderful ferry to Victoria, B.C. that wanders through the San Juan Islands showing wildlife, history, and sometimes Killer Whales -- Orcas!
Bellingham is close to Vancouver, B.C., about a one hour drive. But the best thing that Bellingham has is beauty, so you will want to bring an extra memory stick because your camera will run out of it!
