It's Australian oldest existing and best preserved colonial convist gaol.

 

Richmond Gaol as we see it today, was built over a period of 15 years between 1825 and 1840.

Features include :

Mens and womens solitary confinement cells

Punishment cell

Chaingangs and convict holding rooms

Flogging yard and privy

Cookhouse with original oven

Visitor information and site guide

Souvernir and craft shop.
