Blanding Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeOkay, Blanding is not the nicest city, but it's in a beautiful area. There are some small motels, including the usual Best Western, and they are all pretty decent. I stayed in the Cliff Palace, a funky little motel that was the project of a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. Neat, but a bit run down.
There are the usual restaurants and whatnot for food. Nothing really spectacular here. Two small grocery stores are in town, but their selection is a bit limited. Still, you can get what you need here.
The real draw is the surrounding country. To the north are the Blue Mountains, with great mountain and forest scenery. Camping and hiking can be enjoyed here, along with jeeping and mountain biking. To the west is Cedar Mesa and Grand Gulch, areas full of abandoned ancient villages left by the Pueblo ancestors. Neat stuff!
