South Padre Island is the #1 spring break destination for college students in the United States. Over 100,000 students pack the beaches there in February, March, and April.

What makes Padre so unique is that it is further south than Miami, Florida, (the weather rocks) and that you can drive there, a big plus in that it simply costs less than destinations you have to fly to.

Also, all the clubs there are 18 to party, 21 to drink. The island is filled with huge, big condos that will sleep up to 10 people, and since you can bring in your own booze, it keeps costs down.
