1883 Baseball Game at Buffalo Gap Historic Village

A transitional oasis in West Texas, Buffalo Gap sits in a pass through the Callahan Divide. Buffalo Gap is home to around 500 people and some giant live oak trees, some of which are over 600, 700, and even 800 years old! Only three hours from Dallas and Austin, Buffalo Gap provides a nice weekend getaway or even a rewarding day trip.  While there, visit the Buffalo Gap Historic Village ( www.buffalogap.com) a collection of West Texas frontier buildings and recreations that show how Texas went from the wild, wild west to a settled American heartland. Perini's Ranch and Steakhouse ( www.periniranch.com) is world famous for their tenderloin. Tom Perini has catered for President Bush, Robert Duvall, and many others. Abilene State Park is just west of town and features an outdoor pool built by CCC troops in the early 30's.
