A visit to Tennessee would not be complete without a trip through Erwin and The Valley Beautiful as it is so fondly referred to by the local residents.   Nestled within the bosom of the Appalachian Mountains, you will find the sun drenched valley a difficult place to leave once you have tasted its serenity.   With a population of under 6000, Erwin would be considered small by most standards. However small, it boasts seven nearby colleges, five high school, elementary and middle schools, and is within an hours drive from two regional airports.   An outdoor playground, the surrounding forest is healthy and rich with plant and animal wild life, and offers a large variety of outdoor activities. From touring the winding footpaths of the Appalachian Trail to kayaking the wicked white-water of the Nolichuckey River, outdoor enthusiasts will find it a paradise of fun and  adventure.   For those not inclined toward outdoor activities, one can travel a few miles north of Erwin and visit some of the best night clubs, live theater, formal dining establishments, live concerts, museums and historical sites.   Whether it is fat-tire biking, fishing, hunting, hiking, whitewater rafting or enjoying the night life and black-tie society, Erwin Tennessee is a great place to be.
