Fort Thompson Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeLocated along the banks of the Missouri River, right near the Big Bend Dam, is athe small city of Fort Thompson in the middle of the Crow Creek Native American reservation of the Lakota tribe. It is one of the poorest counties in the nation, yet what they lack in monetary value they make up for in beauty. Although not much to do entertainment wise, besides a casino, the beautifully barren back roads off of I-90 and the hills rising up behind the unbelievably blue Missouri river provide some unforgettable scenery.
A wonderful place to drive through, though I'd recommend meeting the tribal elders and listening to their stories of the land.
