The Battery

 

A visit to Charleston is not complete without experiencing the Battery, one of many of Charleston attractions. Also called White Point Gardens, it has incredible vistas of the impressive anti-bellum mansions of Charleston on one side and the picturesque views of Charleston Harbor and Fort Sumter on the other side. To get there, go down E. Bay St. from Market St., where the Old Exchange Building is located. The Old Exchange Building has a dungeon underneath it and was used in the Civil and Revolutionary Wars. It is also said that this building is haunted and is one of many stops on the city’s ghost tour.
