The Charleston Museum

There are so many Charleston activities available for the visitor, but a stop at the Charleston Museum is a definite must-do. Remarkably it is the oldest museum in this country. Since 1773, it has been in operation with its mission today of preserving and interpreting the rich cultural history of Charleston and the South Carolina’s low country. Exhibits feature objects from the museum’s enormous cultural, historic, and natural history collections representing the customs and  life of the low country. The museum comprises two historic buildings in addition to the museum building itself, all in downtown Charleston.
