Best on a Budget

The Days Inn Historic District is in the right location for the right price. For about $95 a night this hotel will give you a nice home-base for your stay in the charming city. You're within walking distance of almost every attraction and some lovely dinning choices. The open market is across the street from the actual hotel and with a short walk you can explore the sights of downtown Charleston. Additionally, bus and walking tours of the city leave daily. Dinning option are made easy with Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. being merely a block away from the hotel. It's southern cooking at its best and, believe me, you'll want to eat every meal here. The rooms are less exciting than the location, however. They offer the standard amenities, but nothing that will wow you. The staff is helpful, but this hotel won't aesthetically blow you away. It's a pleasant place to stay for the traveler on a budget who cares more about the city they're staying in than the room.

Moderate For Families

The Residence Inn near the Charleston Airport is for the traveler on a moderate budget and also with a car. The Residence Inn is located closely to the airport, but that's the only major place that this hotel is close to. Downtown Charleston and most historic attractions are a 20 minute drive away. Several tours do pick up and drop off visitors at the hotel, so if you don't feel like driving that day then you don't have to. I definitely recommend this hotel. Every suite is complete with a small kitchen, sitting area, and either 1 to 2 bedrooms. The atmosphere is appealing to the eye and comfortable. For roughly $145 a night, travelers can also enjoy a free breakfast. The area where the food is held can get crowded, but you can always bring it back to your room. The staff at the Residence Inn is very informative on local attractions and enjoyable to deal with. This hotel is recommended for families.

Southern Luxury

Charleston Place is one of the most breathtaking luxury hotels in Charleston. Walking into this hotel is like walking into the home of a wealthy plantation owner in the 1800s, but with a modern twist. At a rate of $400 a night this hotel will not let you down. The decor of each room is able to stay comfortable while still being elegant with southern touches. A spa is on-site, shops, and an indoor pool. It's within walking distance of major attractions, but you won't want to leave this hotel. From the grand staircase to the decadent cuisine at one of the three restaurants, Charleston Place is simply out of this world.
