Shopping in Philadelphia
Edit ThisIf you are staying in Center City Philadelphia, you do not need a car to reach a variety of great shopping. While Philadelphia is a large city, the areas with the best shopping are not far apart. You can find many different styles in the stores in Philadelphia. The best part about Philadelphia shopping is, you don’t pay sales tax on clothing in the state of Pennsylvania.
Men’s Clothing
If you are a business traveler and forgot your tie or stained your dress shirt, help is close by. Old City Philadelphia shopping icon Shirt and Tie Corner, conveniently located at 3 rd and Market Streets is open 6 days a week to serve all your men’s clothing needs. Brother and sister, Gary and Stacey Ginsberg are the friendly owners of this old school store that has been in their family for 3 generations. The selection of shirts and ties here is unbeatable and the signature service is what Philadelphia Shopping is all about.
South Street
If you want to take a walk outside along with your Philadelphia shopping the perfect place to go is South Street. This is the famed South Street from Orlons song in the sixties with the lyric “Where do all the hippies meet? South Street.” The center of the South Street shopping area is at 4 th and South. South Street is known for its great eclectic boutiques and vintage shops. This is no strip mall with chain stores; this old part of the city has mostly individually owned businesses. There are many restaurants here too. Tattoo Mom’s (6 th and South) is a cozy alternative if you want to take a Philadelphia shopping break and sample a local beer.
Bargain Shopping
Philadelphia shopping does not have to be expensive. There is an absolutely huge Ross Dress for Less store at 7 th and Market. They have quality name brand clothing, shoes and house wares really cheap. There high thread count sheets are one of the best bargains. Daffy’s is another great bargain store in Philadelphia located at 17th and Chestnut
Center City
From Pine to Market Street and 6 blocks either side of Broad Street is a large district for Philadelphia Shopping. There are at least four indoor shopping malls here: The Bourse, Market East, Shops at the Bellevue and Liberty Place. The streets are lined with shopping here you will find: H & M, Victoria’s Secret and Barnes and Noble.
Diamond Shopping
Philadelphia shopping has some great diamond discounts. Sansom St., between 7 th and 9 th , in Philadelphia is known for great gold and diamonds at great prices.
