Laurel Highlands Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeThe Laurel Highlands are located about an hour east of Pittsburg and are geared to many types of people including the skier, hiker, outdoors adventurer, architectural buff and American history buff.
My experience is mainly as an architecutral buff where we visited two of Frank Lloyd Wright's houses, Fallingwater (his masterpiece) and Kentuck Knob (a stunning mid-1950's Usonian home). At Kentuck Knob, there also is a sculpture garden on the property which is worth visiting. These two homes are only 7 miles apart. Allow a day to view these buildings but make reservations beforehand as the tours book up quickly. At Fallingwater the in-depth tour lasts two hours, is fairly expensive but worth it as you can take pictures inside the house and you get to visit all the rooms and the guest house.
