Located north of Philadelphia, Bucks County was founded in 1692 by William Penn, who named the county after Buckinghamshire, the Penn family home in England.
Bucks County is about 608 square miles. In 2005, there were about 610,000 people living in 23 boroughs and 31 townships.
Bucks County is known for its historic sites, including the Mercer Museum, Washington Crossing Historic Park, Pennsbury Manor, and the Pearl S. Buck House.
