State Capital Building in Bismarck

Joseph Hollick

Bismarck is the capital of North Dakota and one of the most attractive places to visit. Attractions include the stately former Governor’s Mansion as well as the modernist-style state capitol, but the major draw is the North Dakota Heritage Center, a combination of museum, state archives and art gallery. Other interesting things to do are and see the Railroad Museum, as well as a tour of the Cathedral Area Historic District.

To relax a bit and see some of the countryside take a ride on the Lewis and Clark riverboat on the Missouri River. You can take it all the way up to Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.

Another nice trip can be made to the Double Ditch Indian Village Historic Site.
