Wilmington Travel Guide

Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and see
Wilmington is one of the most beautiful cities on the North Carolina coast. Founded over 250 years ago on the shores of the Cape Fear river, Wilmington has a rich past. Actually, the Historic District is one of the largest districts listed in the National Register of Historic Places and a must see. Many fascinating buildings and historic sites are open to the visitor, so you can easily spend a few hours if not days here. After your visit you can browse in quaint shops in the downtown area, or just make a 'southern style stroll' down streets rich in architecture. When the evening is about to fall, sit down in the Riverfront Park and enjoy the view.

At night there are a lot of things going on as well. Enjoy fine dining-from fresh seafood to international cuisine. Wilmington has nightlife geared mainly toward the college set and offers little in the way of live music for those that enjoy blues or Jazz . Fans of these forms of music may want to bring a CD player on their trip to the region as most of what is presented as blues is sub par at best.
