Raleigh is the capital of North Carolina and a very attractive city. You can spend the morning exploring three free state museums of art, history and natural sciences.

After that you can stroll along the tree-lined streets of a Victorian-era neighborhood listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In Historic Oakwood you can see a Victorian style neighborhood, including an old graveyard full of prominent Raleigh figures. Raleigh also has several historic homes to tour.

Another nice attraction in town is the State Farmers Market. Shop around for some of the tastiest, most colorful fruits and vegetables.

For people who want to get some fresh air, there is plenty to do as well. Greater Raleigh has the unofficial motto, "Trees, Tees and PhD's," and for good reason. With more than 150 parks, gardens, lakes and greenways in Raleigh alone, there's plenty of places to enjoy the scenery.
