Troy Travel Guide

Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and see
Troy was a once-powerful industrial city, situated on the banks of the Hudson River, ten miles north of Albany. Though it is presently somewhat downtrodden, it remains rich in history. Troy had one of the first professional baseball teams in the country, and was the origin of the character 'Uncle Sam' as a representative of the United States. Troy is currently most well known as the home of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the country's first school devoted to science and engineering. Noteworthy sights here include Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, a beautiful concert hall famous for its near-perfect acoustics. The city's downtown includes many old brownstones and mansions leftover from better days, which are beautiful in a somewhat melancholy way. Prospect Park is a city park with impressive views from a hill overlooking the Hudson Valley. Troy is a quick ride from Albany off of Interstate 787.
