Plattsburgh, NY is a quiet city with plenty of history.  For those wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of major tourist areas, Plattsburgh is ideal.  Situated right on Lake Champlain, you'll find plenty to do.   Fisherman have sworn by the perch that can be caught for decades.

The city has a history going back to the "forgotten: war, The War of 1812.  Be sure to check out the museum dedicated to the Battle of Plattsburgh at 31 Washington Rd on the Former Plattsburgh Air force Base.

If you want a beach that you won't have to fight to find a place in the sand, Plattsburgh beach is ideal.  Don't be surprised if you hear some French too!  Montrealers consider Plattsburgh to be one of their best kept secrets.  While your there, you can also stop at Gus's Red Hots, one of the oldest eating establishments in town just a short walk from the beach to try the traditional Michigan, a hot-dog on a bun to hold a sauce that is unique to the area.

A visit wouldn't be complete a ride on the Ferry to Vermont.  At the tip of Cumberland Head, you can go as a pedestrian or take your car.  Try to see the ends of the lake.  It's only a 12 minute ride, but the putter of the boat makes it seem timeless in the most beautiful way.

And with the Adirondacks only a short drive away, you'll never run out of places to explore.  If you aren't sure where to find something, ask a native.  They are proud of their town and will be more than happy to direct you!
