Coney Island
Edit ThisReachable by subway, Coney Island is a New York trademark. Although it needs to be renovated, it offers a great view into old New York and is always fun on a hot summer day.
Walk to the end of the boardwalk and go to Brighton beach, known as little Odessa. This area is mainly Russian or people from the Former Soviet Union. There are many good restaurants at reasonable prices.
Coney Island is in New York City. It is located in Brooklyn, one of the city's 5 boroughs.| World66 rating: |
Atlantic City
Edit ThisIt's about a 2 1/2 hour drive down to Atlantic City from New York City. Atlantic City is like Las Vegas on the beach! If you want to go for more than a day, I recommend you stay at the Borgata, the newest and nicest hotel in Atlantic City, or at the Tropicana, in one of the rooms in their brand-new tower. Long Island City
Edit ThisUntil 1898 Long Island City was independent from New York – it really was it’s own city. Today, just a few minutes from New York by train, Long Island City is a popular outer borough to visit for locals and tourists alike. Long Island City consists of roughly 10 neighborhoods each with it's own restaurants, sights, and scene. Major points of interest include Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum (www.noguchi.org), P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center (www.ps1.org), Socrates Sculpture Park (www.socratessculpturepark.org), and the Sculpture Center more..

Cape May New Jersey
Edit ThisCape May New Jersey is around a 2-3 hour drive from New York. The drive of train ride is well worth the trip as you can relax on the beach here, take a vineyard or Victorian tour, go parasailing, birding, whale and dolphin watching or spend the day at a spa. Cape May also has a number of museums and art exhibits as well. While there are limitless activities on the menu in Cape May, one of the town's favorite pastimes is bicycling. Visitors have a number of options for bicycle rentals including: Cape Island Bike Rentals, Howard Street at Beach Ave., Sunset Blvd. in W.C.M., more..

Staten Island
Edit ThisNew Yorker's call it a suburb and Staten Islander's call it their beloved borough. Whatever you decide to call it, Staten Island has much to offer in the way of sights, scenery, culture, and cuisine. Some of Staten Island's most popular attractions include the Staten Island Ferry which offers a stunning view of Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty, Historic Richmondtown, Staten Island Botanical Garden (www.sibg.org), the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art (www.newhousecenter.org), and the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art (in Richmondtown, more..
