East Hampton

Joseph Hollick

The Hamptons on Long Island consists of numerous towns and cities along the south shore of Long Island east of New York City fronting on the Atlantic Ocean. Incluced are such places as Eastport, Westhampton, Hampton Bays, Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton and Amagansett.

These places include many upscale residences and vacation properties for the wealthy of New York City. A drive along Dune Road in the Westhampton Beach area reveals miles of million-dollar-plus vacation homes. Many of the so-called public beaches in the Hampton areas are actually for residents who live in the various Hampton towns and non-residents are not allowed to use them.

Many upscale shops and stores are located in the Hamptons including some impressive garden shops and nurseries. The downtowns have the quaint New England flare and style. There are no chain type hotels located in these towns, instead bed and breakfast inns or local hotels that blend into the New England style will cater to your needs, however they do fill up quickly.
