The tiny village of Ramah sits in a lush valley

R X Garcia

Tiny Ramah is located in a lush valley rimmed with sandstone cliffs, south of Gallup and east of Zuni Pueblo. It's a small town that started as a Mormon colony, and continues today as a ranching and farming settlement. Tall trees cast shade over sandstone houses built in the previous century. For whatever reason, it made the Frommer's top 10 list of up-and-coming tourism destinations. The locals are all puzzled about this. Even the horses are mystified.
