History in Albuquerque
Edit ThisAlbuquerque's Volcanic Past
Albuquerque’s historic past is evident in its five dormant volcanoes on the city’s west side. The volcanoes were formed some 190,000 years ago. Athough as recently as 1881, smoke was seen rising from them, the Albuquerque volcanoes are considered still to be in their cooling period. When it snows in Albuquerque, it melts first in the volcanic region because of the residual heat.
Albuquerque's Winemaking History
