Red Rock Canyon

Brian Baldwin livewire@agoofysite.com

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation area is located 17 miles West of the strip on Charleston Boulevard. It is one of THE destinations for rock climbers in the world. This is obvious if you ever go to the Red Rock Canyon camp grounds. You'll find guests there from all over the world, year round in the blazing heat and freezing cold just to climb at Red Rock.

This is also a great location for just some rock scrambling, and trail hiking for the entry level hiker to the more advanced rock climber.

This is also a great place for cycling. A thirteen mile, one way road climbs, at times, steeply above the canyon and then plunges back down to the desert floor and connects with the highway. Allow one to two hours for the ride depending on fitness. Serious cyclists should try to break the magic 40 minute gate to gate time. Take plenty of water in summer.
