Rachel Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeThe small town of Rachel, Nevada is home to the infamous Little A'Le'Inn. It's 73 residents (yes, 73 people) are mostly very helpful, courteous, and rather interesting to talk to. One of the main tourist attractions around Rachel is the top secret US Air Force base known as Area 51, or Dreamland. At night you may be able to see strange lights eminating from the base, or be knocked over by sonic booms -- Rachel is also the sonic boom capitol of the world. Travelling a bit further down 375, which is also officially known as the Extraterrestrial Highway, you can park on a dry lake bed (just make sure you clearly mark how you got in, since it's difficult to find your way out at night), prop up some chairs, and gaze at the stars. Since there's no light pollution and very, very few commercial jets pass by due to the proximity to an Air Force base, you can see the sky in all it's glory... including the Milky Way, assuming you arrive at the right time. All in all, Rachel is a fun little place to visit. There's much more to Nevada than just Reno and Las Vegas.
