When to Go in Las Vegas

New Year’s Eve

Las Vegas is known as a party town, a desert paradise where you can let your hair down and have fun. Hands down, the most exciting time to travel to Las Vegas is New Year’s Eve!

This isn’t the cheapest time to go. If you are looking for cheap flight and hotel rates then that would be when the temperatures rises far into the 100’s during July and August. Despite the cost, New Year’s Eve can be the best time you’ve experienced, when it’s spent in Las Vegas.

Some of the seasonal shows do shut down during this time but there are parties that replace them. Getting a room shouldn’t be a problem because the current economy has driven tourism down in Las Vegas. It is probably wise to make reservations as soon as possible. Past years you have to reserve rooms at least one year to nine months ahead of time during a holiday.

Some of the Resorts in Las Vegas advertise New Year’s Eve packages and it would be worth your while to check into those. Encore advertises a $75 resort credit with rates from about $170 for a room. That isn’t bad!

The Strip

The Las Vegas Strip on New Year’s Eve gets a little crazy after 8:00 pm. There will be a couple thousand other people on the strip; they are wall to wall on the strip all the way through the night and no vehicles will be allowed on it at all since the party is “in the street”. This party is free but there won’t be any food or drinks being served. You can bring your own and be aware that many people will have imbibed a little too much.

Clubs

You can also usher the New Year in at a club, all of which will probably be crowded. The Hawaiian Tropic at Planet Hollywood costs you $125 for 5 hour open bar. LAX Nightclub offers to have New Year’s Eve with the Kardashians for $200 per person. TAO has Carmen Electra with Open Bar and Hors Doevres for $150. And this is just a few of the opportunities you can find on the Strip in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve.

Midnight

Fireworks commence at midnight and you will see a big show above the Las Vegas Lights.

New Year's Day

New Year’s Day you can participate in Sport Books if you want and many restaurants will have the games on TV and a party going on. Of course the casinos will be open and you can either start off with a good year or a not-so-good year, financially.
