Carson Valley (Minden/Gardnerville/Genoa) Travel Guide

Minden and Gardnerville are just south of Carson City, before you cross back into California.  Just to the east are the towering peaks of the Sierra Nevada, but these towns lie in a fertile valley.  The best thing about the region is that it offers both entertainment & history without the crowds of Vegas or Reno.

A focal point for the area is the Carson Valley Inn.  This is a large casino hotel with some very upscale restaurants.  Be sure to eat at JT's in Gardnerville, a traditional Basque restaurant where everything is served family style...and very tasty!  Also be sure to have a beer at the Genoa Tavern, the oldest continually operated drinking establishment in Nevada.
