History

Montanas history goes back thousands of years, back to when man lived in caves as evident at the pictograph caves near Billings. Native Americans have been in this part of the world for centuries. Soiux, Crow, Blackfeet. Cheyanne and others have roamed the area we call Montana long before the white man came.

Montana was an area rich in beaver, bringing many trappers to the area. The trappers soon found other treasures too. Gold, silver and precious gems just to name a few.

Lewis and Clark came trough the area in 1804 on their way to the Pacific. Here they saw things they had never seen before, met and traded with some of the native americans.

When you think of the "Old West" you can't help but think of Montana. Ranches, saloons, cattle, mining, and rairoads just to name a few. It is what built this great state of Montana.
